The Man On The Bridge (Steve/Bucky)

The Man On The Bridge by Boopboop

Steve/Bucky, Clint/Natasha, Tony/Pepper

Awesome story that shows the depth and heartbreak of true friendship and a love that lasted through hell. Tony opens his door to find Captain America and the Winter Soldier on his doorstep, On the run and injured Steve went to the only person he was sure that could help. The story is nonstop action, with a lot of angst, horrible scenes of torture, moments of humor, the depths that men can sink to, brainwashing, conditioning a human and what lengths someone will go to for the person they love. In too many stories Steve comes off as a plastic, perfect, innocent figure. This story shows the man that lead attack operations behind enemy lines in WWII. Someone who knows the cost and when necessary is perfectly willing to kill to protect those he loves. The reactions from Bucky as he slowly regains his memories is truly heartbreaking. There is no quick fix in the story and this is only the beginning there will be more in the sequel. The scene where Bucky decides to leave and Steve lets him shows that sometimes love is not enough. Tony finally realizes that he has a family and the other team members realize that even without S.H.I.E.L.D. they have a home and a safety net. They are not alone and they will teach Hydra that targeting the Avengers is a mistake.

How (thanks to Gabriel) Dean and Castiel (accidentally) Raise Each Other (and Sam)

How (thanks to Gabriel) Dean & Castiel (accidentally) Raise Each Other (and Sam) by Vera_Dragonmuse

Great story with an interesting story line. What if Castiel became involved years earlier with the Winchesters. As Gabriel lay dying he could see what was coming and decided on a desperate gamble. Using his remaining grace he goes back to a time when he spoke to Castiel and named him the angel of Thursday. He asks him to be the angel of Dean Winchester as well as Thursday and surprised Castiel agrees. Gabriel and Castiel watch the future Gabriel die. Castiel does not think further of that until Dean's mother calls his name for a blessing on her child. Castiel is involved in a war but remembers and checks on the infant. Later he feels the pain and fear of the mother and child and appears in time to see what happens. He decides the best way to be there for Dean is to grow with him. He finds a vessel that is dying the same one that he would later use and begins to appear to first just Dean, then Sammy and later in their teens he decides it is time for their father and Bobby to know of him. The story changes enough but remains true to the Supernatural story line. The growth of the relationship between Dean and Castiel is built wonderfully. The relationship between Sam and Gabriel is surprising and at one point hot as hell. John Winchester is alive and still a suspicious bastard. Bobby agrees with a lot of Castiel decisions to give the boys a better life.

Twice-Told Tale (Tony/Steve)

The Twice-Told Tale by Arysteia

Not a long story but it is a good one. At their first meeting the reason Steve is staring and disappointed is not because he reminds him of Howard but he reminds him of Howard's brother Greg Stark. Their friendship and love gradually builds until one day Tony finds himself in the past. Then the fun begins, the story is heartbreaking, funny, fluffy, and shows what a burden that foreknowledge could be. I hope the author someday does a followup with Steve's point of view. As he must have gradually realized what was happening and had to allow it to happen without doing anything not even sure he would get his love back. Really, really good story and the scenes between Tony and his father, and Tony and Steve are well written and will make you cry especially the last one with his father.
